Former Vice President Al Gore is Co-Founder and Chairman of Generation Investment Management. He was inaugurated as the 45th Vice President of the United States on 20 January 1993, and served eight years. Prior to that, he served as the U.S. Senator and Congressman from Tennessee for 16 years.
Gore is the author of Earth in the Balance, An Inconvenient Truth, The Assault on Reason, Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis, and The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change, and An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power. He is the subject of an Oscar-winning documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, and its sequel, An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power. He is the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, for "informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change.”
David is Co-Founder and Senior Partner of Generation Investment Management. Previously, David spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs including serving as co-CEO and CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management from 1999-2003.
David received a BA from Hamilton College, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
David serves as a Board Director for Dialight, New Forests, Motivate International, On the Edge Productions, SHINE, the World Resources Institute, Social Finance UK, and is a life trustee of Hamilton College.
Peter is a Founding Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Generation Investment Management. Previously, Peter was part of Goldman Sachs Global Operations Division, where he was responsible for global operations infrastructure projects, and management of the North American operations and latterly international operations for Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Prior to that, Peter established the Marketable Securities Division Operations Department at CIN Management Ltd, before it was acquired by Goldman Sachs in 1996.
Peter is qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant.
Lisa joined Generation in 2004. Previously, Lisa served in various roles at Goldman Sachs, including process enhancements, systems project management and analytical roles. Lisa worked in Goldman Sachs Asset Management Global Projects, Goldman Sachs Equity Operations, and as a Project Manager for the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Lisa was a Project Analyst for Countrywide Bank in New Zealand, and was a Financial Accountant at UBS, PaineWebber and Prudential Holborn.
Lisa is qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant.
Alex joined Generation in 2011 and is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Generation Investment Management. Previously, Alex was Head of Legal for the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs outside the Americas, and a Senior Counsel at Clifford Chance.
Alex received an LLB and a Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Edinburgh, and a Masters in Corporate and Commercial Law from the London School of Economics. Alex is admitted as a Solicitor by the Law Society of Scotland.
Mark is a Founding Partner of Generation Investment Management and Co-Chief Investment Officer of the Global Equity strategy, covering the Global Financials sector. Previously, Mark was co-Head of the Financials Research Team, Member of Pan European Stock Selection Group, co-Head of Pan European Research and Global Equity Portfolio Manager for Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and an analyst at Schroder Investment Management.
Mark received a BSc in Urban Land Economy from Sheffield Hallam University, and an MBA from the European University in Paris.
Miguel is a Founding Partner of Generation Investment Management and Co-Chief Investment Officer of the Global Equity strategy, covering the Global Healthcare sector. Previously, Miguel was a co-manager of pan-European and Swiss Funds at Mirabaud & Cie, an analyst at WP Stewart, and an analyst at Schroder Investment Management.
Miguel received a BSc in Economics from Cambridge University. Miguel is a native Spanish speaker.
Colin is a Founding Partner of Generation Investment Management. He is also a founding member of the Growth Equity strategy, and a member of the firm's Management & Investment Committees. Colin is also head of the firm’s San Francisco office.
Prior to joining Generation, Colin worked for Sustainable Asset Management in Zurich, Arthur D. Little in London, and Total in Paris.
Colin serves as a Board Director for Nairobi-based M-KOPA Solar as well as San Francisco-based Asana. He is also a member of The Nature Conservancy's Natural Climate Solutions Advisory Group.
Colin received a BSc in International Management and Modern Languages from the University of Bath, UK, and speaks French fluently.
Esther joined Generation in 2007 and is the Head of the Global Client Team. Prior to joining Generation, Esther was a sustainability analyst at Sustainable Asset Management in Melbourne, Australia, a sustainability consultant at Matrix+ International, and a financial analyst at ING Barings and Barclays Bank in London.
Esther graduated with a BCom/BA degree from the University of Queensland, received a Masters of Environment from the University of Melbourne, and received a GDip in Applied Finance and Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.
